What the Google Ads team does when a Church Cancels

LOOM -

Step 1: Confirm the Cancellation and Find the Church

Where to start:

1.  Check the Google Unassigned inbox at google@churchfuel.com. You will receive a cancellation notification email here.

2.  Copy the church name from the email.

3.  Note: Some cancellation emails do not appear in Church Fuel Stations due to ongoing migration.

4.  Verify you have the correct church before taking any action. Confirm the name matches the account you are about to modify.

5.  Scroll to the church's Google Grant ID

Step 2: Pause Campaigns in Google Ads

1.  Open Google Ads and navigate to the church's account using their Google Grant ID.

2.  Go to Campaigns.

3.  Identify all campaigns created by Church Fuel. These will include "ChurchFuel"  or "CMU" in the campaign name.

4.  Select all Church Fuel campaigns and pause them.

5.  Do not touch any campaigns that do not have ChurchFuel or CMU in the name. Those belong to the church and must be left alone.

Important

If a campaign does not have ChurchFuel or CMU in the name, it is not ours.

Leave those campaigns exactly as they are.

Where to go:

Church Fuel MCC > Sub-account Settings

1.  Copy the church's Google Grant ID to your clipboard (from Step 1).

2.  Go to the Church Fuel MCC (Manager Account).

3.  Navigate to Sub-account Settings.

4.  Paste the Google Grant ID into the search field.

5.  Select the church from the dropdown.

6.  Click Unlink, then confirm by clicking Unlink again.

7.  Confirm the account shows as unlinked before moving on.

Watch Out

Make sure there are no leading or trailing spaces in the Grant ID field.

If there is a space, the account will not pull up.

Step 4: Remove Access from Google Analytics

Where to go:

Google Analytics > Admin > Account Access Management

1.  Pull up the church's Google Analytics account.

2.  Before removing access, verify you have the correct property. If multiple churches have similar property names (missing city, state, or clear identifiers), check the stream URL to confirm you are in the right account.

3.  Go to Admin, then open Account Access Management.

4.  Find and remove google@churchfuel.com.

5.  Also check for google@churchmarketinguniversity.com. Older church accounts may have both emails listed. Remove both if present.

6.  Click Remove to confirm.

Note

Check for both emails:

•  google@churchfuel.com

•  google@churchmarketinguniversity.com

Older accounts may have both. Remove all Church Fuel email addresses you find.

Step 5: Remove Access from Google Business Profile

Where to go:

Church Fuel Business Profile Manager > church account > Business Profile Settings > People and Access

1.  Open the Church Fuel Business Profile Manager account.

2.  Search for and locate the church.

3.  Click See Your Profile.

4.  Go to Business Profile Settings, then People and Access.

5.  Before removing Church Fuel, check whether Church Fuel is the only owner on the account.

Critical: Check Ownership Before Removing Access

If Church Fuel is the ONLY owner:

•  Do NOT remove access yet.

•  Add the church as an owner first.

•  Wait for them to accept the invitation.

•  Then remove Church Fuel.

If the church or another owner is already listed:

•  Remove Church Fuel as a manager.

Google Business Profile invitations require the recipient to accept before

access is granted. This is different from Google Analytics, where access

is granted immediately without acceptance.

6.  Once ownership is confirmed, click Remove Church Fuel.

Step 6: Log Completion

After completing all steps, record that the offboarding is done.
